Clue 1

Trigger:

Asking Bartholomew if he wants a treat.

Items: DOG TREAT, KEY, NOTE, PHOTOGRAPH

Order of Events:

You find a dog treat in someone’s box of items. You take it and give it to Bartholomew in the dream world. You then need to not take your pill. The next day you will see a key on your work space with a note attached that says ‘woof’. This key will grant you access to a drawer, that is only accessible to you when you don’t take your meds. You open the drawer and find a old photo of you and your family on vacation. Take this photo and show it to your wife Sharon to unlock a new dialogue.

Twist:

This is a photo of your real family before the VR. The dreamworld Sharon does not encourage Robin to take time off due to the underlaying company protocols, but Robin’s real wife loved going on holiday. When Robin shows this memory to his fake wife, it reveals something is amiss, due to her not remembering the event.

Clue 2

Trigger: Completing Clue 1

Items: BODY PROFILE, AUTOPOSY REPORT

Order of Events: You talk to Noah and notice Noah’s response to ‘What do you want to be when you grow up’ has altered from ‘a reliable team player’, to ’a reliable team player with attention to detail’. The next day at work you come across a body profile who goes by the same description called Kimberly Sinclair. Their cause of death is labelled as ‘cardiac arrest’ but crossed out with the word ‘missing’ over it.

You ask Merry for an autopsy report after telling him the cause of death is ‘missing’. You see Merry has some ‘certified’ files and as him for it. He denies you them, but there is a way around it. If have taken 2 pills you’ll be able to get hold of it at the end of the day, at which point, Merry will fall asleep. Use this chance to take the files from him and attain the autopsy report.

Upon acquiring the report, you recognize Kimberly was a primary school teacher and she did not in fact have a heart attack from a natural cause. Her true cause of death was ‘overdosing from Somnium Amphetamines’ after working overtime for 3 months straight. Due to company protocols, the cause of death was altered in medical records.

When you re-enter the dream world Noah isn’t talking to you anymore. Bartholomew has a new line: ‘Careful, you’ll end up just like her’. Robin is rather baffled at how his dog just talked, but shakes it off anyway.

Twist:

Kimberly was Noah’s primary school teacher in the real world. Robin erased Kimberly’s traumatic passing from his memory, after spending so much time inside the VR. He was aware of her relationship with overworking, and suspected her cause of death. When he was less medicated, he managed to scribble on the body report as a signal to himself, and a warning to not take the same path.
